One of the very best skyscrapers to
be built after World War II in Manhattan is the curved, reflective
glass tower overlooking Battery Park at 17 State Street, a development
of the William Kaufman Organization, which has erected many of
the city's most unusual office buildings. Here, its curved,
clear-glass, open lobby is "amplified" a la Metropolis.
