dramatic and beautiful "Rocky Mountain Waterfall" by Albert Bierstadt
(1830-1902). An oil on canvas in an unusual tall vertical
composition,it measures 60 by 38 nches andwas painted in 1898.
It was formerly in the Philip Anshutz Collection and was the
frontispiece of Gordon Henricks' 1972 book and Knoedler exhibition
catalogue on the artist.

Union League Club of New York. It hung in the Oval Office of
the White House from 1976 to 1989 and has been very widely published
and was recently included in "The Civil War and American Art
Exhibitiion." It has an ambitious estimate of $3,000,000 to
$5,000,000. It
failed to sell.
